YEAR 6 SWIMMING – 24TH-28TH JUNE
Dear parent/carer,
This year, we have booked Teignmouth Lido for their swimming practice. This has been booked for the 24th, 25th, 27th, and 28th June. We have not booked the pool for the Wednesday as this is Sports day, but instead they will have a double session on Friday.
All Year 6 children will be doing this as part of their PE curriculum. There is no cost for the lessons as the school will be paying.
They will be swimming at Teignmouth Lido and will be walking there and back. They will be having lessons from qualified instructors whilst there. This will all take place during normal school hours; please bring your child to school and collect them at the normal times.
All of the children will walk down and back to school together. They will leave at about 09:40am and will arrive in plenty of time for their session which is at 10:30am – 11.30am.
They should arrive back at school for about 12:45pm. They will have lunch when they arrive back at school.
Friday will be slightly different as their will be a double session; from 10.30 – 12.30. They will leave at the same time but will have lunch at the lido. All children will need a packed lunch. If your child receives free school meals then a school packed lunch will be provided for them.
Please make sure that your child has a snack and plenty of water with them.
The children will need to wear school uniform but dress for the weather. This may mean shorts, sunhats and sun cream or it may mean raincoats and jumpers! The children may wear trainers for this week so that the walk to and from the pool is more comfortable
They will need swimming costumes, towels, goggles if required, their lunch on Friday, some water an a non-glass bottle, a snack for after swimming (optional) and a sensible bag to carry this all in – rucksacks are recommended.
Please fill in and return the slip below to indicate that you give permission for your child to take part and to give us a rough idea of their swimming ability.
If you have any questions, please ask your child’s teacher, myself or the school office.
Many thanks,
Jonathan Ball
