Elder and Oak (Year 5and Year 6) Swimming lessons

Home Forms Elder and Oak (Year 5and Year 6) Swimming lessons

Dear parents and carers,

We are pleased to announce that we will be offering swimming lessons this half-term to Year 5 and Year 6. This is part of the National Curriculum whereby children are expected to leave school being able to swim 25 metres.

The swimming lessons

The lessons will take place on Friday mornings at Teignmouth Lido. Each class will travel down via minibus and have a 45 minute lesson at the Lido with a qualified instructor. School staff will help with supervision.

There will be no cost to parents.

What does my child need?

Your child should come to school wearing their swimming costume or trunks underneath their uniform. Please remember to send in underwear and a towel. All jewellery must be removed and long hair must be tied back.

In addition, the following items are optional: swimming hats, goggles, shorty wetsuits.

When will this happen?

The swimming will take place over 5 Friday mornings starting next week: 12th , 19th and 26th June, and the 3rd and 10th July.

Please note: children will not need to come to school in their PE kit during these weeks, and will need to wear school uniform.

Thank you for your support. We hope that the children find the swimming sessions enjoyable.

All the best,

Luke Marchant
