Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to give you an update on some events that we have coming up before the end of term.
Firstly, the guidelines still state that we are unable to have parents on site and so the Review Day that is planned in for Friday 18th December this year will be a virtual event. This will continue to be a non-pupil day. We are buying into a system called ‘Parents Evening System’ which allows you to choose the most appropriate time available for yourself to have your appointment on this day. You can then click on the link on the day and you will be connected to your child’s class teacher. This is the same system that Exeter Road have used recently with lots of success. More details to follow soon.
I have recently put in an order for 50 sim cards to allow parents free internet access at home to be able to support their child with online learning should they be put in the position of their class bubbles needing to close or needing to self-isolate. This will allow them to still be able to complete their learning from Seesaw. They will take up to 3 weeks to arrive and when they do I will let you know so that any parents needing one can have one free of charge, which will give you free usage for 90 days.
This year we have launched our new house point system. Children are still working towards a total for this. On Thursday 17th December we will be having our Christmas themed events where we will have a virtual visit from Santa, party hat making, gingerbread decorating, hot chocolate and our Christmas dinner day. Children will be invited to wear their Christmas jumpers on this day.
To order a Christmas dinner and pudding (£2.50), please complete the following form https://www.teignmouthprimary.co.uk/forms/christmas-dinner-2020/ . Payment will then be added to School Money during the week beginning the 14th of December.
In light of new restrictions, Christmas performances unfortunately cannot take place as they normally would. Instead pupils and staff are busy putting together smaller productions which we will be filming and then streaming to you on the website via Vimeo with a protected password made available to you. These will be available in the last week of term.
Despite all of the challenges we are currently facing, we hope to bring some Christmas cheer to you and the children in a safe way! Further details to follow about all of these events nearer the time but I wanted to give you as much notice as possible regarding Review Day etc.
This has been our most challenging time in schools as I’m sure it has been for you at home, but I want to thank you for your support, encouragement and positivity that you continue to bring. It has really helped to make this testing time a little easier. I hope that with the new Government announcements we have some light at the end of the tunnel and can get back to some normality in the not too distant future.
Yours sincerely
Mrs Annabelle Thomas
Head of School.
