Healthy Living Week

12th June 2020Andrew Webber

Dear Year 6 Parent/Carer

In normal circumstances, during this half term, we hold our Healthy Living Week where we would be delivering our age-appropriate sex and relationship education lessons to all the children across the school. Whilst as a whole school, we are unable to do this as normal, and have plans to ensure all children are caught up with the necessary knowledge in the new academic year, we feel it is important that the year 6s do not miss out on their programme of study before they move on to secondary school. After much discussion on the best way to provide this while still adhering to current government guidelines, we would like to offer a lesson taught by myself over the video messaging system Zoom.

I will deliver a lesson to the girls in school at one time. The girls in the other year 6 bubble will connect via Zoom from their classroom as not to ‘burst any bubbles’ and girls from home will be able to attend at the same time via Zoom. The boys will be taken outside to continue their usual learning with the TA from each bubble.

This will then be repeated but with the boys attending.

If your child is at home and you wish them to participate, you will need to send an email stating these wishes to me on.

sarah.dudley@teignmouthschool.co.uk

I will then provide you with the meeting ID to allow you to access the meeting(s) scheduled.

You will then need to ensure you have downloaded Zoom to an appropriate device, if you do not already have it. If you require any help with this, please contact the school and someone will be able to advise you.

There will also first be the opportunity, should you wish, to attend a parents’ Zoom meeting to look at the resources that will be shared and discuss the areas to be covered.

If your child is in school currently, and you DO NOT wish them to be part of the session, then you must notify us of this as well so that they can be taken out of the session at the appropriate time.

Zoom meeting for parents that wish to attend Monday 29th June at 1pm
Zoom lesson for the girls of year 6 Wednesday 1st July at 11am
Zoom lesson for the boys of year 6 Thursday 2nd July at 11am

I will then provide you with the meeting ID to allow you to access the meeting(s) scheduled.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs Dudley and the year 6 team
