Schools need governing boards that have a balance and diversity of knowledge, skills and experience. The current board has particular need for skills in the areas of financial monitoring, HR, and safeguarding of children, but not exclusively. Governors are responsible for three core functions:
● Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
● Holding the Headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school.
● Overseeing the financial performance of the school.
There are two candidates for Mill Lane (biographies below):
Sean Bromfield
Rachel England
Thank you for taking the time to participate in this election and we look forward to announcing the results.
Kind regards
Gaby Willis

Sean Bromfield
Parent Governor Nominee for TCS Mill Lane
I have a wide variety of skill which I believe are transferrable to the role of governor. As an active member of the lifeboat I see a lot of the community a lot of the time and am able to get a good understanding of the local environment and surroundings.
As a self-employed father of two I understand that communication is key and keeping kids active and healthy is vital. I currently own and run a business which caters for a lot of schools and children from a variety of backgrounds including home educated children, children with learning difficulties and international schools.
My skills range from project management, graphic design, web design, martial arts instructor right through to water sports instructor and business management, ownership and budget management. All of which are highly transferrable. I have a safe guarding qualification as well due to the variety of trips and instruction I lead as part of Kayakhub and BlueSalt Sup.
Rachel England
Parent Governor Nominee for TCS Mill Lane
As a parent of 3 children attending both Mill lane and Exeter Road, I am a firm believer in working in partnership with school leaders to ensure children are getting the education and resources they deserve to achieve their full potential.
As a former primary school teacher, now working as a Family Group Conference coordinator, my career has allowed me to meet lots of professionals and families, empowering them in safeguarding their children and plan for their future. I currently organise family-led meetings with the aim of supporting the most vulnerable children in our communities.
If I were to become a governor, I would use those skills and my experience in working in collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders. I would support and challenge TCS leadership in ensuring children of Teignmouth are supported and given all the opportunities they deserve to thrive in life, without blame and shame but with support, in a solution focused approach.
If you were to consider me as suitable for the governor position, you will find me approachable and keen to make a difference. I am very excited at the opportunity of helping to forge and shape Teignmouth community schools, in collaboration with other minded governors, learning from them and building together.
