For STEM week, we have been investigating the question- What is living on our hands?
For the first experiment we conducted, we placed a slice of bread under different conditions and are currently observing the different levels of bacteria growing on them.
For the second experiment, we covered our hands in paint and washed them blindfolded. This allowed us to see all the areas we normally miss when washing our hands. We have discussed that these areas would be a perfect place for bacteria to grow.
We ended our investigation by looking at images of bacteria and viruses under a microscope, including the topical virus – the Cornavirus.
The children really enjoyed this investigation and many were amazed about what could be living on their hands!
