A visit from a fairy! WB: 3/6/19

3rd June 2019Andrew Webber

This morning we began our new topic for the summer term – Once Upon a Time. We stumbled across a tiny purple door which had appeared over the half term break. We noticed fairy dust had been sprinkled along the carpet. During topic time, we each guessed who could be living behind the door and…

Year 4/5 Update

20th May 2019Andrew Webber

This week in year 4/5 we have been exploring the Mayan number system and we have also experimented with foam and made our own Mayan hieroglyphs. We had to use a pencil to scorn our pattern into the foam, cover the pattern with paint and then print it onto a piece of paper. We all…

Year 6 SATs Revision

20th May 2019Andrew Webber

Year 6 have been working so hard revising for their SATs last week, we decided to revise grammar in a slightly different way: a treasure hunt around the school grounds! Year 6 have also been doing some ‘maths graffiti’ to help revise for their SATs tests.

RNLI Assembly

20th May 2019Andrew Webber

Today we had an assembly led by lifeguards from the RNLI. They gave us lots of advice and information about how to stay safe in the sun, at the beach and in the water.

Reception News: May 2019 update

20th May 2019Andrew Webber

This week in Reception, the children have been finding and recording rhyming strings. They have been playing “Vets and Pets” and writing lists of animal facts. In maths, they have been exploring simple addition and subtraction; one group used a board game to add and subtract bricks to build towers.

Chocolate Pizza’s in Year 1!

20th May 2019Andrew Webber

WALT: write instructions on how to make a chocolate pizza Today we were visited by Truly Scrumptious – Ali. She taught us how to make our very own tempered chocolate pizzas. We each made our own pizza box and lined this with greaseproof paper. Ali then offered the children white, milk or dark chocolate for…

Outdoor Learning: May 2019 update

20th May 2019Andrew Webber

Year 4/5 Miss Goodwin. The class showed excellent independence and responsibility today. I was able to work with a group of children using knives (we are making garden dibbers) because I was confident that the rest of the class could work on making dens both independently and responsibly. I was right, and we all had…

Outdoor Learning: May 2019 update

20th May 2019Andrew Webber

Year 3 and 4 Mr Baxter The class showed lots of independence and responsibility today. I focused on working with a group using knives – we are making garden dibbers – and Mrs Corbett worked with a group in the garden. The other children worked independently and responsibly in the bark kitchen or making dens….

Outdoor Learning in Year 2

20th May 2019Andrew Webber

Year 2 Mrs Sandercock. We worked in the Outdoor Learning area this week. Some of use made dens, some made daisy chains, and some worked in the bark kitchen. We enjoyed the Spring Weather!

Outdoor Learning in Year 1

20th May 2019Andrew Webber

Year 1 Miss Powley We went to the woods to see how they have changed since we last visited. We saw that nearly all the trees have lots of leaves now (although a few still don’t) and that lots of other things have grown too. There are more plants (bushes, flowers, nettles, weeds) growing everywhere…
