20th October 2019Jo H

On Tuesday 15th October, the school was involved in World Maths Day. This year, we decided to explore problem solving outdoors. Each class was given a problem to solve throughout the day, ranging from party planning and treasure hunts to measuring how tall the school is. The day was a great success and the children…

Year 6 Home Discovery Projects

17th October 2019Jo H

Year 6 brought in their amazing home discovery projects from this half term and we had a lovely time sharing all the fantastic research, fossil creations, artwork and writing. A lot of time and effort has been spent on these at home. Well done year 6.

Harvest Quest Day

16th October 2019Jo H

On Monday, Year 2 had a Quest Day, where they posed the question ‘how do we make bread?”  The children researched the answer to their question and then make some yummy white crusty rolls! They also took part in a farm shop role play, potato printing, leaf hedgehogs and wrote a class Harvest poem. We…

Honesty Poems

16th October 2019Jo H

The children in Year 2 class thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the recent National Poetry Day. The theme was truth, so we linked this to one of our green behaviours ‘honesty’.  This is a small selection of the amazing poems they have created.

Thank you for supporting our #HelloYellow day last week. £150 was raised for the child and adolescent mental health charity, Young Minds. The children in Mrs Sandercock’s class also designed some posters to support our daily mental health.

Making silly soup!

11th October 2019Jo H

To celebrate national poetry day, Miss Powley’s class have been busy making rhyming potions and recognising rhyming words. We used picture cards in our soup and had to think of a rhyming word to go with this. We then took it in turns to stir the potion and say a magic spell. Here are some…

This week, Reception children have been learning to use positional and directional language in both indoor and outdoor activities. In Maths they have been creating repeating patterns with a range of resources.

Creating Haiku Poems

11th October 2019Jo H

To celebrate National Poetry Day, Year 4 created haiku poems on the subject of honesty. We enjoyed getting to grips with ensuring the number of syllables in each line were correct and, although it may have been a little nerve-racking for some, it was lovely to invite the Year 6 children in and share our…
