Children in year 5 got the amazing opportunity to go attend a maths challenge at Exeter Road. The children worked as a team to complete a series of maths based activities. They competed against three other schools in our area and they all did fantastic. A big well done to all the children involved!
This term we have been looking at a story called ‘Sigurd and the Dragon’. It links to our Viking topic and we are currently writing our own versions of this story. When we haven’t been writing we have made character puppets or masks and built settings from Lego to help our understanding of the characters.

As part of our new topic the children have been bringing in photographs of their family pets. The children have been writing their pet’s name for our display. It is important to encourage early mark-making by giving it a meaningful purpose.
Recently in Reception, the children have been setting up their role play area as a shop and learning to count, match and compare items. They have been talking and writing about what they would like to be when they grow up. The children have also found out about technology used in the school buildings.
