Classic 80’s pop!

11th October 2019Jo H

During our after school art and music club this term, we have explored classical and traditional African music, but this week it was time for… 1980’s pop! We watched a short clip of Duran Duran performing on Top of the Pops and Mrs Fleming talked to the children about the 1980’s. We looked at classic…

Harvest Festival Assembly

10th October 2019Jo H

On Monday 7th October, Reverend Jamie Redfern came to lead our assemblies and talk to the children about how his congregation celebrate Harvest Festival. The children listened to a story and some of the children were invited up to play the characters. The children were interested in what Jamie had to say and we were…

#HelloYellow

2nd October 2019Jo H

We would like the children to wear something yellow on the 10th October and donate £1 to the charity Young Minds. Whether you choose a subtle splash of colour or dress like sunshine from head-to-toe, together we can show young people they’re not alone with their mental health.

Making tractor marks in Nursery

2nd October 2019Jo H

The children in Nursery are continuing with their farm topic. This week the children have been making tractor marks on paper with muddy brown paint. The children were encouraged to use positional and directional language when making their marks, for example forwards, backwards, round and round.

On Monday 16th September, year 6 embarked on their residential trip to Grenville House in Brixham for the week. During the week, we took part in many new and daring activities including caving, abseiling, high ropes, kayaking, raft building, indoor climbing and problem solving. We had some amazing experiences such as swimming and kayaking with…

Discovering Enchanted Woodlands

30th September 2019Jo H

On Friday, Miss Powley’s class visited Haldon Forest as part of their ‘Enchanted Woodlands’ topic. We drove to Haldon in our school mini-bus and enjoyed walking around the discovery trail and keeping our eyes peeled for signs of autumn! We then sat in the picnic area to enjoy our delicious packed lunches and topped this…

Reception class enjoy outdoor fun

30th September 2019Jo H

Reception have had lots of fun in the wind and rain last week – luckily, they all had the right kit on!

What does cress need to grow?

30th September 2019Jo H

Miss Discombe’s class have been experimenting to see what cress needs to grow. We planted some seeds with soil, sun and water. We thought these would grow – they were our ‘control’. We were right, they did. We also planted some without one ‘variable’ – without sun, or without water, or without soil. The ones…

Our new bell tents have arrived!

30th September 2019Jo H

We have 7 new bell tents and they are huge – 5m across and 2.5 m high! Each one should be able to sleep at least 6 children and we hope to be running camping nights on the field very soon! Massive thanks to Tesco, Waitrose and PACA (Parent And Community Association) for the funds…

Great second day of gardening!

23rd September 2019Jo H

Thank you again to the TCS PACA who came along and worked in our garden for a second day. All of the beds are now weed-free and we even have the base prepared for our hotboxes! The hard work of our volunteers is much appreciated by Mr Ball and all at Mill Lane. We are…
